The art of using one's voice to tell a story is as old as humanity itself. More recently on Earth's timeline the need for someone's voice is more prevalent than ever. Think about it - cartoons, commercials, audio books, phone menus - and that's just scratching the surface! I was first interested in voice acting when I would watch cartoons on Saturday mornings at my grandmother's house. I'd always wondered how the voices got there since I couldn't see anyone actually talking. Years later, I found myself serving in the United States Marine Corps. Often when I had downtime or when an opportunity presented itself in conversation, I'd break out a voice and have fun with it, which led to more than a few comments about why I joined the military instead of being a voice actor! So, I decided to dive deeper into learning more about the process behind voice acting. What I found was a fascinating world full of opportunities for learning and fun. I took the first opportunity I got in October 2018 to really put my voice, skills, and patience to the test when I was approached to narrate Forced Fracture by T.M. Hern (I'll write more about that whole process in a later entry). During the couple months that it took to complete this project from start to finish, I found myself learning handy tips and tricks all the way up to the end. Honestly, I enjoyed the whole thing much more than I thought I would - and I'd thought I would enjoy it to begin with. The process of manipulating my voice and putting emotion into the script in order to breathe life into characters sparked joy for me in a way that I hadn't felt in a long time. All this is to say that I want to continue feeling that way through the act of helping others. I recognize that you may have wound up here because you have a huge project that needs a voice, a small idea that you just need to hear first before committing to it, or you could just be curious about voice acting yourself. No matter why you're here, chances are you have a dream that needs a voice. Let me be that voice. I will get more practice and you will get the highest quality product that I can offer - Every time.
